Preparing our students for the workforce and life-long success has given rise to a number of initiatives. One challenge is that initiatives are typically discipline specific with little interaction and complimentary efforts outside of the sponsoring project, department, or college. Such isolation can hinder data discovery, data integration, data analysis, and learning from related efforts.
The goal of the ENGAGE tool is to assist faculty and staff to document student involvement in UTEP EDGE-related and other student success activities. Once the information is captured, then the tool can be used to support report generation and discovery of student-success efforts across campus.
Users document the participants of an Activity, where an Activity could be a workshop given to undergraduates on how to give an elevator speech. An Activity could be associated with a stand-alone Initiative, or with an Initiative that is part of a Project. Projects are typically a funded project associated with a number of Initiatives. For example, Project X, has an Initiative named Student Development that captures all the activities related to student development, and another Initiative named K-12 Outreach that captures all such activities.
